Oh Kate my dear how you dont know how much we talked about your Guiness Cake all weekend . This quaint and quirky B @ B and Cake tearoom and home for all tourists is in the most beautiful location on the Island - Port Wemyss. This unique home is a cornucopia of handmade and home made treats and the baking is exceptional. The lovely kate reminds me of a lovely earth mother who is relaxed and homely and turns her hand to all things creative . On the walls of this Tearoom come B@B are handmade crafts and on the cabinets are dome filled cakes, but THE GUINESS CAKE - OHHHH i had one piece after the biggest breakfast id ever seen was demolished and then was offered an other piece for the days journey ahead. This lady can bake but be quick because once the cakes are gone they are gone and you will need to wait for the next days offering. Great place- love love- love it .
Nominated today online by a local lass. This tearoom re-opens 30th March 2013 and an assessor will be able to visit then.
Birsay Bay Tearoom,
Orkney

Today was a glorious boat journey to the magical island of Orkney . Our assessor reports the most beautiful views are to be had on the drive from the boat at the south of the Island to the North where nestled in a stunning bay lies the Birsay Bay Tearoom. This Tearoom is just about to receive new owners and we met the outgoing who hopefully pass on the great Cake recipes. The Dark Chocolate and Orange Cake i am told is worth going back to the island alone for !! When you get a stunning view on a magical island on a perfect Scottish day with glorious sunshine and great cake - what more in life could you wish for ?? Your Award is on its way Birsay bay and well done - Note to new owners -Keep the Baker !!!
