Today was a dreech day through the beautiful Clyde Valley and onto Biggar in South Lanarkshire .The first stop today was the best of the day at The Biggar Flavour.This is a family run Bakery/Deli/Take-away with a wonderfully fresh and well stocked Fruit ,Fish and fine Foods Shop next door. On entering the bakery i was warmly welcomed by Jane the owner who was happy to explain all the vast variety of Homemade cakes on Display.These are all made on the premises along with some fine homemade breads ,pies and Quiches. I have to say that the amount of Traybakes,Cakes and Meringues etc that were on display in this huge refrigerated display cabinet was impressive. The prices for all the cakes etc were extremely reasonable for the quality you were receiving. This Bakery also makes all its own Jams and marmalades and have won many an award in doing so in the last few years. I took away a box of lovely cakes and a Homemade quiche which we unexpectedly had to eat in the car - Anyhow the Quiche was as light as a feather and the Carrot cake was quite simply the best i have eaten to date . The rest will be demolished this evening. An on the spot Award for this hard working family who are delivering fine Homemade produce without ripping people off on the pocket.Well done The Biggar Flavour
