awardThree Sisters Bake
Today was a beautiful drive through the Inverclyde countryside for our third asessment of this Bank Holiday Monday. Three sisters is located in Quarriers village outside Kilmacolm .The history of this now commuter village is fascinating .In the late 1870s the village was founded as the Orphan Homes of Scotland by Glasgow Philanthropist William Quarrier.Quarriers still functions today and is a registered charity. Three sisters is at the heart of this Village in the old School room and when we arrived was already nearly full with every table reserved .We were lucky to get a table and decided to stay and see what all the fuss was about for lunch. .This coffee shop has a young trendy feel about it with a distinctly Deli -style menu. i absolutely loved the Corn chowder which was served with Homemade Sour dough Bread -excellent. When the sample of Cakes arrived we were treated to a Dense ,rich Chocolate Brownie,a Fig and Patisserie cream tart ,Beautiful scones and Gluten free orange cake .But the ginger crunch was a new one on me and was excellent. All in all a great lunch and great cakes .It was great to see whole Homemade cakes for purchase in the Deli also . Well done The Three Sisters.
