Inverary
Inverary castle Tea-Room
This fairytale castle was built with the help of Scotlands most distinguished architect of his time -William Adam in 1746. An imposing piece of architecture incorporating Baroque,Palladin and Gothic- most unique. Very well run and pleasant staff helps to make this a more homely castle to tour. We managed to squeeze in just before it closes for the season at the end of October .The castle re-opens in April. The tea-room is to be found in the basement and has limited access for the disabled or infirm. The huge walls add to the atmosphere and has a gently calming effect as you sample the homebaking made on the premises. First class homebaking here and worth a visit. The castles heritage belongs to many years of the Campbell family and is today the family home of 'The Duke of argyll'. All the usual Gift shop and haunts that you would expect to find in such a historic castle and well worth a visit.

This was a second visit to this quaint Bistro in Inverarys Main street and a pleasant visit it was this time . We were visting the Food and Music Festival at Inverary castle when hunger struck and Brambles fitted the bill for a quick sugar pit stop. The glass frontage display of beautiful handmade cakes was hard to pass without going in. We picked the outside table as the weather was dry for a change and mild. If you can sit back and slow down to this Bistros pace then i guarentee you will enjoy the experience. This visit i decided to drop the formality and did not request the normal plate samples to assess and simply ordered some Suki tea and carrot cake. To this end a full assessment was not carried out or indeed appeared possible at this premises . I was though introduced to the owner and had a brief chat about the bakers and the Bistros history. The present owner has been there for approximately 8 years and all her staff are capable of baking the vast array of Homemade delights under the watchfull eye of head baker Ann. I must say i was disappointed at not being able to try the usual ammount of homebaking to assess the full extent of skill on display but maybe next time .If you are ever in Inverary in Argyllshire this is an excellent place for great Homebaking .
