Scottish-baking-LogoThe Real Food Cafe was our first stop today on this glorious sunny day in the Highlands. This  Cafe is actually in Tyndrum about 15 Miles south of Glencoe and has some of the most stunning scenery, in my humble opinion, in the whole of Scotland. A popular stopping place for bikers and hillwalkers alike and a perfect pit stop before you hit the most dramatic scenery that is Glencoe. Anyway i digress, this Cafe is well worth a stop. A very well run Cafe /Fish and Chip /Cake /Food emporium is "The Real Food Cafe ". I loved the decor and bright friendly atmosphere that hits you when you walk in . No nasty smells of fried fish like you may experience in many Fish and Chip shops but more of a kind of hybrid of Up market Coffee Shop /Fish and Chip Shop/ Restuarant. The Cakes were all on display which i love and took up the whole length of the shop . They had something to please every taste including a good range of Gluten Free cakes. I was bombarded with just about every cake they had on offer and i was not disappointed . A talented baker they have in Anne and i managed to bribe the "Best ever Chocolate Fudge Cake " recipe from her in turn for my Scone recipe . This Cake was actually a gluten free cake and one of the best Chocolate cakes i have tried. Another lovely surprise for me was the Lemon drizzle cake - Gluten free again and made with " Potato " - yes " Potato " and it was amazingly light and moist . This is by no means a small business and to maintain the standard of baking on offer here and the freshness is no mean feat . I was so impressed i stayed for lunch and although we were not judging the lunch i have to just add that the Fish and Chips were fabulous. If you are in this area folks please do not drive past as this is a great Pit -Stop to suit many tastes . Well done Sarah and her team.
